Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil: Prithviraj, Basil Joseph were not the first choices for the movie

The latest Malayalam movie Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil was released earlier this week and is running successfully in theatres. The movie is a buddy comedy revolving around the bromance between two men who are about to become brothers-in-law. The principal characters, Anandan and Vinu, are played by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph, respectively.

After watching the movie, it's hard to imagine any other actors playing these roles. However, Prithviraj and Basil were not the first choices of the makers of Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. Surprisingly, the lead characters in the movie were initially earmarked for Biju Menon and Asif Ali.

In a recent interview, while promoting the upcoming movie Thalavan, Biju Menon revealed this unknown fact about Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. Without taking names, the makers of Thalavan revealed that "the film that we turned down is now playing in cinemas." However, the team refrained from revealing the exact reasons behind passing on the movie.

Instead, Biju Menon and Asif Ali picked a movie that is diametrically opposite to Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil. The duo has acted together in Thalavan, which is a cop drama. Based on the trailer, the narrative revolves around the camaraderie between two colleagues in the Kerala police department.

In the film, Biju Menon plays the role of a senior cop, and Asif Ali plays the role of a junior cop who has quickly gained a reputation for being a stickler for rules. Directed by Jis Joy, the film is set to hit the screens soon.

In the meantime, Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is a light-hearted, mindless comedy-drama that revolves around a man's quest to get married. The film has struck a chord with audiences and is on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing movies in Malayalam cinema this year.
